Ever since I was a child I have been eager to make extra money tutoring and babysitting the neighborhood kids, teaching art classes in my parents’ garage and distributing the newspaper when my brother wanted a break from his route. When I was a bit older and able to get a “real job”, I worked at a department store, at a museum and even started my own business called “Artout”. I created a character, Artout, who was from the planet of the arts! Artout would visit schools and do birthday party events to teach kids of all ages various entertaining art activities. I did all of this while finishing my bachelor’s degree in visual arts and then, attending the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa to finally become a teacher! Even as a full time teacher I started my second business called Connecting Pieces, dedicated to special needs children and adults and sold Epicure products, a lucrative and inspiring direct sales company. Today, I have over 10 different streams of income aside from my full time teaching job!
I have also started teaching my daughter, Emilie, about creating streams of income for herself. Emilie has autism and working many hours is not a possibility right now. These tips have worked for her to create a side income that all teens love!
