Google has to be the most user friendly and versatile platform! I use it for a variety of personal and business uses! One of my favorite applications is the Google form: I can quickly and effectively create a form for any occasion and the best part is that the information being collected is sorted and added to a spreadsheet so I can see the results all at once. The best part is that the link can be shared to anyone at any time making it a perfect tool for social media including Clubhouse!

Another way I sell my PDF version of my journals is with a Google Form. Creating a Google form is a fantastic way to give information while keeping track of people’s choices and orders. The best part about a Google form is that you can collect this information and with a click of a button, all of it is put into a google form with everyone’s answers in the right column! What a great feature! It is also very practical to pin to the top of a room in a Clubhouse room or simply share in an email. The newest site where I sell my PDF’s and other digital assets is on a site called Payhip. If you visit my store on Payhip, you’ll see these same journals! What I love about Payhip is that they only keep 5% of the total amount and it costs nothing to join. So when I sell a $10 journal, it only costs me 50 cents. That is much more profitable than if I sell the hard copy on Amazon. Although some people might want a hard copy and I appreciate that I don’t need to hold inventory in my house, having the possibility to print your own by purchasing a PDF can be an option many people might enjoy! Ever since I was a child I have been eager to make extra money tutoring and babysitting the neighborhood kids, teaching art classes in my parents’ garage and distributing the newspaper when my brother wanted a break from his route. This is my 16 year old. She is following a life skills program for teens called Life Skills for Confidence and she’s loving it! It was especially created for 10 to 20 year olds. There are lessons and videos. There is a workbook and lots of questions for you to discuss with your teen. These lessons are self-guided. They can do it at their own pace, so there’s no pressure. This is important for Emilie. She can’t feel pressured or she won’t want to do it. This being said, I didn’t give her a choice to participate. Teenagers need as much encouragement as little kids, and as parents, we sometimes forget this. So instead of asking her if she would like to participate in a life skills class, I told her that I had paid for the class but that she could choose when she would listen to the videos, she could choose if I would help her or if she would do them alone, she can choose to answer all the questions or only a few of the questions in the workbook and she could choose to go to the social hour every week or every other week if she liked that better. I am offering many choices in a situation I chose.
Social hour
This Life Skills for Confidence Program also includes a social hour in which the teens meet for an hour, view one of the videos and discuss it. This reinforces the skills that were taught in a fun and interactive way. They practice, they talk and they truly enjoy each other’s company! My daughter loves it! She was even confident enough to do a presentation on a school community project she created all by herself. This is one of the changes we have seen in her! The confidence to talk to strangers and discuss her projects without the feeling of being judged or feeling dismissed.
Personalized meetings
The one thing that got my teen quite excited was that she was going to have private meetings with Addie and Claudia! This is imperative to create that bond that will help Emilie feel part of something special. She sees them on the videos and live on the zoom calls, but now, she will get all of their attention for her. Teens need 1 on 1 attention too! They need to feel heard and understood. Like many other Clubhouse fans, I was recently introduced to the Owwll ap. The creator himself came onto Clubhouse to talk about his masterpiece! This ap is the bomb! Seriously, I love it. Right now, it is only available for the US and Canada. Once the ap is on your phone, you can call professionals and pick their brain about various subjects right in the ap! Professionals clearly post their fee per 10 minute call, 20 minute call or 5 minute extension. Teaching on Outschool has been one of the most rewarding income producing activities I have participated in so far! How rich of an experience to teach a boy from Romania how to read French or to paint with a girl from Australia! The first question I get is “Can I teach on Outschool if I am not a qualified teacher?”. Depending on the subject that you want to teach, you don’t need to be a qualified teacher. This depends on your experience and the subject matter you would like to teach. For example, if you are an artist and would like to teach art classes, this is within reason! But if you submit a math class, it will probably be declined. As long as you stay on the subject of your expertise, you should be good!
To be a teacher, you need to be an adult of at least 18 years old, you need to have some kind of an expertise to teach, you need to be a resident of Canada, USA or UK and you will need to have a clean criminal background check, that they will do themselves. What I love about Outschool
One of my favorite elements of Outschool is how the Zoom meetings are set up. First of all, you do not need to pay for a Zoom account. You get that automatically as a teacher. When you start your class, the Zoom starts recording automatically. This has so many benefits! First of all, it is imperative for the safety of the children and for our own safety as teachers. If a student or parent were to make a complaint about your teaching style or something that was said, you have a video proof to protect you. It is also handy for students who might have missed a group class for example. The student who paid to attend your class can request the recording in case they were absent. I find this very useful as a parent of a child who takes Outschool classes. When my daughter missed her Spanish class, she was able to request the recording and she was able to catch up!

The other element that is so fantastic about Outschool is the ability to give new students a $20 credit towards your classes, or any classes! Setting up a class

This is useful to make the process quicker if you have that information available before your start. You can even get it ready in a document beforehand so that you only have to copy and paste it into the Outschool platform. Don’t forget: the trick to a good class is the price point, the subject and promotion! Use your social media platforms to promote the classes and find places to promote your class!

I would love to present this beautiful girl right here! She’s my daughter Emilie. My love for creating multiple streams of income comes from trying to show her various ways to create income in order to stay independent! You see, Emilie has autism. And although I was told she would probably never speak and she would never be able to attend a regular school, she is excelling! Not only can she make her own meals, do household chores and get a 90% average in math, she is also creating streams of income as well without having to commit to a “traditional job”.
As a teenager or tween it is possible to do multiple things to make extra income. Of course, there are the babysitting jobs, working retail and pumping gas. But what if someone wanted to do something that required less time and you could do from the comfort of your own home?
Emilie, like many teens, likes using her creativity making craft items. Some teens like to sew or knit. Others like to paint or to build bird house. Emilie’s favourite craft is paper crafts like cards and bookmarks. She also loves photography and this is an easy way to incorporate her photography to sell it. Write a book
Yes, even teens can write books! Emilie has written a few kids writing books and journals. She even created a journal for people with guinea pigs called “My Guinea Pig Care Journal” using her knowledge of guinea pig care. There are so many different kinds of books like journals, colouring books, collections of short stories and instructional books that could easily be written or created by a teen. Youtube channels
Emilie is having so much fun with her Youtube channel! It doesn’t directly create any income but the monetization can come indirectly. For example, Emilie promotes the Epicure products I sell on YouTube. I use her content on my social media and this can sometimes create revenue with the sale of that product she was promoting. This being said, you can get your child to use Youtube to promote their books, their crafts or anything else they would like to sell. And what teenager doesn’t like to create Youtube videos? Right?

Anyone who knows me knows that I am always looking for ways to create streams of income. And no amount of income is too small. A few dollars here and there turn into hundreds of dollars! When I discuss business strategies I often talk about “planting seeds”. This metaphor brings me back to the sunflower. When I plant sunflowers in my garden, I start with one little seed. I plant it, I water it…but it doesn’t always grow. Sometimes it’s a faulty seed. Sometimes the squirrels dig them up and eat them before they sprout. Sometimes, it sprouts and it becomes a treat to some small animal looking for something tender to eat. This is why I will plant many seeds. Just like your business, you can’t only use one strategy. What if it doesn’t work? What if the squirrel of competition eats it? What if your account gets hacked and you only had one social media platform to count on? The importance of diversifying is as important as planting many seeds.
Once the seeds sprout and grow a little, you might have to thin them out. If you leave all of them, they will be too crowded and will probably fall over because of overcrowding. Just like your business, you’ll have to thin out what isn’t serving you anymore. You have to learn to let go of the extras that add stress without any return.
Throughout the summer, you will have to water and care for your sunflower plants. They will grow, just like your business will grow if you work at it. And sometimes, you will do nothing at all, and it will grow just the same. If it rains, if the sun shines bright, it will be smooth sailing. But sometimes, it will be difficult. Sometimes it will get so hot and sunny that you will need to water often. Sometimes it will rain so much that the plants will flood and you’ll lose a few. Your business might react the same. There are many things that are out of our control but other things we can change if we put our minds to it.
Once the flowers bloom, the sunflowers will be beautiful and bountiful. They will attract bees and butterflies and squirrels and birds. The animals eat the flower heads with such voracity the seeds fall to the ground. This imagery represents the best period in your business. Your sales are booming, customers are telling others about your amazing products and service. That action of telling others is just like the birds dropping the seeds into the ground! They are planting the seeds for you! When these seeds are planted without any effort on your part…that’s how you know you are doing great!
The Fall arrives and the sunflowers are mostly dead. It is important to take a few of these heads and save the seeds for the following year. The rest of the heads are bare and there are no more seeds to be found. Despair not! Even with a handful of seeds, you will be able to re-sow again in the Spring. And to your delight, you will see new growth where no seeds were planted by you! They will grow from the abundance from the previous year…as those seeds fell and endured the harsh winter, sprouted on their own once the ground thawed.
Just like your business, the hard work you put into it now might only be felt later in the season or even the following year. Your satisfied customers will be repeat customers and will bring in their friends and family to your enjoy your products and services. Treat your business like a garden! Plant those seeds, diversify, care for the flowers and keep only what serves you!
